The first thing that you see when you look at this poster is is the title of the poster which is "Transfert" and then you see the little subtitle under the title which shows that this film is foreign. This short film poster is a dark poster with one character on the poster, this tells us that he is the protaganist and is the main character. In the background we can see smoke coming from what looks like a power plant. However we then see on the left side of the poster in the back what looks like trenches this tells me that this short film takes place during the war. Also in the background of the poster there is a lot of rubbish flying through the air. Our main character has his back to the us and is looking at something that is glowing in his hand. this shows the audience that maybe the film is about time travel as there is rubbish flying around him and something is glowing in his hand. The costume that the character is wearing tells us that he is from about the 1960's as it looks like something you would wear in the war. He is wearing a long trench coat trousers and boots.
There are three bits of information on this poster we have the title which is just below the middle of the poster, we have the names of the actors at the top of the poster and last we have the movie poster credit template at the bottom of the poster. All this information is spread out so you are still able to see what the poster is trying to portray.
Genre
The genre for this film is clearly portrayed as a Sci-Fi film as we have the device which looks like it can take our main character back in time. This poster also shows us that it is Sci-Fi through the glow of the device that our character is holding. The rubbish that is flying around the poster also helps us to determined what the device is and what genre is would fit into.
Narrative
The poster also gives us a clear understanding of what the story is going to be about for example, the device in our characters hand shows us that the story us going to revolve around that, the rubbish flying around our character as well as the title shows us that the device has to be some sort of transporter. The title of this short film gives away most of what the story is going to be about and that could possible draw the audience in as they might really like films about time travel.
Tom - this is a French film, (also big budget) therefore not appropriate to your brief. You have made some sound observations, but this can only go so far because it isn't UK or low budget/independent.
