Short Poster Analyses - Earth: Rise of New Krypton

Media Language

The media language for this poster is simple but affective as the colour for this poster is quite dark which means that there is a dark side to this type of short film. It looks to me that all the characters in the dark costumes with the Superman symbol on there chest are there to take over the earth and i think this is what they are trying to portray to us as an audience. The three characters in the other uniforms look like agents who are there to try and stop them from taking over the earth this is shown through the use of the way they are standing but also the male agent has a gun which tells me that he is an agent. The way the characters are positioned on the poster is that the main character the leader is at the front in a very over powering pose to show that he is the leader. We then have the other two at the back of the poster to show that they are also over powering, this is shown through the way that they are hovering above the air. Then we have the agents all positioned in the middle of the poster. They are all in a powering position of their own to show that they are not afraid to take them on. In the background of the poster we see that there are buildings on fire smoke in the air and glass smashed. This shows us that they might take over the city. On the bottom of the poster on the floor there is a newspaper page that says "Caped Wonder Stuns City" and then there is a picture of Superman, this tells us that maybe Superman is not there to stop them and they are trying to get that across through the poster. The title for the poster you usually expect to be at the top of the poster but in this case it is at the bottom of the poster. I think that this is so they could fill most of the poster with the main picture of the character, that way they can get across what they are trying to portray.   

Audience 

The audience for this short film are teenagers and possibly adults. However it is also anyone that is into the Superman films as that is what this short film is based off of. It might not be for the younger audience as they possibly might not get what is going on in this film. Because this film is based of of the Superman films then it is clear that the short film is for the Superman fans. 

Narrative

The poster gives us a clear understanding of what the story is going to be about for example the title gives us a really good idea of what the story is going to be about. The title "Earth: Rise of New Krypton" says it all that there three characters from Krypton are going to try and take over the earth and turn it into Krypton. There are also aspect of the story that are shown on this poster for example, we see the buildings on fire and the glass smashed which tells us that they are getting far in what they are trying to achieve. Through the use of costume we can tell who are from Krypton and trying to take over the world and who are trying to stop them.
