12 Years a Slave Poster Review

Media language.

This poster gives off a very serious and gripping vibe to us, i feel like the image of a cloured man running in a clear area dressed on slave clothes, is such a powerful image because we can tell he is running from something, and with the name '12 years a slave' it creates alot of emotion and shows freedom to us, whoch is quite intriugeing and inspiring, making us want to watch the film. we can tell that this film is set in the past, with the films title, and the baggy, dirty clothes; all implies that he was a slave or maybe still is and slavery hasnt been a thing for years and years. So i think along with the lighting and Mise En Scene a very powerful and meaningful image is created and really pulls in an audience. 

The target audeince is very clear, with a dark and tragic theme of slavery we can tell that this is for a more mature audience, like adults and teens.

Layout of Poster. 

The layout of the poster isnt too complex but it just looks a little more complicated then others. i think that this is because a there is an all white background, and then the main character, or what we can tell is the main character as he is the only one; and in the main character, are reviews, the cast and the title of the film too, which is a little bigger then the rest of the text. i think that the text was put onto the main charcter because it shows that theres alot on him and it focuses us all on the running of the character and centralises him more.

Imitation Game Poster Review

Media Language

In this poster we can see that this film is going to be a very serious film, this is because it shows that it is going to be intulectual, for example the calmed colour behind him is very soft and easy on the eyes, the tag line is hard to read and you have to read between the lines and figure out what it says. the words 'enigma' suggests mystery and intellengence. we can clearly see that this film is set in the past aorund the 40s because of the tweed jacket andpatched shirt and tie, he also has his hair waxed back and is mart too. 

i would say this film is for people between the ages of 15 to pretty much any age, this is because the serious look he is giving just from this i dont think that it is going to be a lighthearted fun film. 

Layout

 The title and cast are very small on the poster, so they can tell that the title isnt where the message is at, its all in the facial expressions of Benedict Cumberbatch and this shows off as he is covered in the yellow cirlces with the tagline 'Behind Every Code Is An Enigma'. I think this is a good use of the actor, and a good way to show off the slogan too because it gives an insght into the film, saying that behind every computer code in a mystery so its saying that they have alot to discover and come across in the film, creating mystery for us. This makes the poster different as poeple see and read that more then the title.

Take Your Time Poster Analysis

Media Language

In this poster we get the feeling that the genre of this film is going to be a non fiction film, looks to have a very emotional story, that could be happy or sad. The blue backgound that surrounds the boy suggests that the film may be sad rather then hppy, the fact that hes alone with a travelling bad looking down at his game device could suggest that he isnt too bothered and is an independent boy.

the story impled is that this boy, and the landscape behind him is very open and looks to br a [icture of a cliff and beachside.Looking at the boys costume we can see he looks to be wearing a school uniform so he could be in years 7-10, so i would say this film could be for youbger ages but as it has a more serious approachwith the blue background, i think maybe 13-20 year olds hitting the younger teen market beause of the younger cast.

Layout 

 The main image of this oster to me, looks like the title of the film 'Take your Time' in bold text, the boy as well so that shows that he is the main character, being in the centre of the poster. With the single award and white border round the poster with the cast and creators round the poster, it makes it very clear what the poster is, and very simple too.

Poster idea for short film.

I went for a poster that is more serious, even though it is a comedy we are also trying to send a message to anyone that watches our short film. I went for white font and black around the text, as I  feel that the font and colour isn't to comedic for the message I am trying to get across in the poster.

I have gone for a simple design as i dont feel that this film would have reached a large enough audience to warrant reviews, i think the font colour and slogan match the comedy of the background photograph to convey the comedic aspects of the film perfectly 

Wire Cutters Poster Analysis

Media Language

When you look at the poster you instantly think of loneliness. This is what 'Wire Cutters' is trying to achieve a sense of loneliness and it portrays this with the dull grey colours and the only unatural thing in the picture is the little metal box, other then that theres no man made, or man objects or characters around. I think that the audience for this film would be for an older audience, just by looking at the poster, multigender ages 16-40 i would say. From what we can tell the narrative is just something to do with that box and the wire attached because its called wire cutters, the rest remains an enigma. i think the genre would be sci-fi because it doesent look like earth and its something we havent seen before

Layout

The layout of the Films Title, and its reviews and awards are both very low down and out of the way of the main image which gives the poster and image dispayed alot more room then it would normally have, due to the simpicity of the title, just a white font and bold text, it just allows us to get a wider perspective on the picture itself so it feels like a bigger space, representing lonesome. 

 

Attack the Block - Film poster Review

Media Language 

The first thing you see when you look at this poster is that is that it is a film that is based in London but that it is also a Sci-Fi film. On this poster they have 7 character which are the 7 main characters of this film. We have one of the characters at the front of them all which mean that he must be the leader of all of them or that the film is based around his life. The other 6 character must be characters that help him along the way. This poster is very dark and gloomy this suggests that this film is a dark film but also it looks like it takes place during the night. Behind the characters there is a large building that looks like it would be a council block and this suggests to me that it is based in London, there are also rocks falling from the sky which suggests to me that this is a movie about aliens taking over the world and the characters have to stop them some how. On this poster there are 6 males characters and one Female character, the male characters are dressed like they don't have that much money which suggest that they live in a rough area. The woman However looks like she earns enough but not enough to live in a nice flat. The camera is at a low angle showing a bit of the building that they are standing on but this also makes us fell as if they have power over us. That we are looking up to them like they are looking up to whatever is falling from the sky. The tittle for this film is at the bottom of the poster along with two audience awards. At the top of the poster we have the words saying "INNER CITY VS OUTER SPACE". We then have the film credits going around the poster creating a block. 

Narrative

The poster for this film suggests to me that the films is going to be dark as the look of the poster shows this. it also shows us that this film is going to involve some action as one of the characters has a weapon on their back. The characters come across as being rough them selfs and that they would survive something like an alien invasion. They also look like they are ready for the battle that it going to come. On the building that the characters are standing on there is an claw mark which suggest that they are aliens that have come from space.

Audience

The audience for this film are people over the age of 18. The reason that is think this is the way the poster is portrayed for example, one of the characters has a weapon on his back which mean that he is probably going to be killing something and thats not really something for children to be seeing. It also looks like it would be quite graphic because the poster is dark and gloomy and the fact the character has a weapon i think its going to be graphic. Also the characters their selfs look like teenagers possibly over the age of 18 so that could be linked the the age limit. The claw on the side of the building also suggests to me that the aliens in this movie would not be suitable to children and that they might possibly have nightmares from seeing this film.
